Presented by Nando Alvarez-Perez and BICA School, in the Project Space of the Buffalo Institute of Contemporary Art, this iteration of Paralytic States features image and text from the series printed onto the surface of flags. In conversation with both Pride and Gadsden flags, the dramatic composition captures the odd intersection of identity and ideology that flags are so often deployed to convey. Activated through a performative slideshow, the result is both political in scale, and personal in effect.

Accompanying the exhibition is a limited edition set of 100 Risograph prints featuring a selection of images and an excerpt of text.
